Atria Senior Living frequently asked questions

Review our FAQs for answers about life at Atria Park of Lynbrook.

Care Options

What is an Atria Enhanced Care community?
Atria Enhanced Care communities offer older adults with specialized care needs elevated amenities and care services beyond what assisted living communities typically offer. Residents who want to enjoy the privacy of a personal apartment and the social opportunities of senior living can still access select skilled nursing services, such as injections, diabetes management, mechanical lift and two-person transfers, as well as catheter and ostomy care.
What is assisted living?
Assisted living offers a social atmosphere where residents can enjoy support with daily tasks such as housekeeping and meal preparation, as well as personal assistance with bathing, grooming, getting dressed and medication assistance. Assisted living communities provide amenities and supportive services tailored to meet residents’ individual needs. This includes similar apartment layouts, engaging programs, chef-prepared meals, housekeeping, transportation, support with activities of daily living and medication assistance.
What are the differences between in-home care and assisted living?
As the name implies, in-home care is a service in which an agency caregiver provides care and support to an older adult in their own home at a pre-arranged time. These same care and support services are also provided by assisted living communities but are typically available around-the-clock and include additional amenities and services – such as meals, housekeeping, transportation and engaging events – along with housing for one monthly fee.
What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?
In general, a nursing home provides specialized medical and personal care in a clinical setting, whereas assisted living provides assistance in a social setting with the privacy of a personal apartment. Both offer help with activities of daily living – bathing, grooming, incontinence management and medication assistance – but nursing homes can accommodate more complex health conditions that require intensive medical care and monitoring.
What is memory care?
Memory care is a form of residential long-term care that provides intensive, specialized care for people with memory issues resulting from Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Atria Park of Lynbrook offers a Life Guidance® memory care neighborhood with specially trained staff that provide highly personalized care in an intimate, structured environment. Visit our Memory Care page to learn more about Atria’s memory care neighborhood.
How do I know if Atria can meet my care needs?
A licensed nurse performs an assessment of potential residents to determine if Atria Park of Lynbrook is the right fit. These assessments help us ensure residents receive appropriate care and are among the factors we consider in determining and monitoring staff levels. Even if the assessment determines that Atria is not appropriate for you, we will help you find an option that is. To learn more or schedule an assessment, contact our community.
