William embraces creativity as more than a pastime – it’s his way of life. A retired professor of fine arts and resident of Atria Stamford, he has spent decades mastering techniques like drawing, etching, watercolor, woodblock printing and lithography. Now, surrounded by paintbrushes and works in progress, he continues to express himself through his art.
“Creating art makes me feel focused and in charge of my life,” William shares. “I feel I am using the special ability I was given to express myself, and I hope my art prompts other people to be excited about visually exploring this world.”
Art without limits
This sense of focus and purpose drives William’s undiminished enthusiasm for art. Vibrant colors, tools and canvases fill his studio at Atria Stamford, showcasing his latest watercolor landscapes and abstract explorations. For him, creating is about more than making beautiful images – it’s about pushing boundaries, taking risks and staying true to his vision.
“I believe that artists should work as long as possible,” he says. “I’m pleased that I’m producing images that I believe are honest to my life journey. Older adults are full of life passions.”
His advice for fellow artists? Never stop creating. “When an idea is worth risking – do it!” he encourages.
